For Adelekan Adeyemo
Today it is 29 years since my father transited into glory and I still thank God I came from that loins.
My father was very intelligent always topping his class year after year with plenty scholarships.
He graduated as a pharmacist from Obafemi Awolowo University at 22years.
Got married at 23.
Birth 5 of us before he clocked forty.
The things he had achieved at forty before he died, no be small.
In case you didnt know I also graduated at 21years from university (5 year course oh) and married shortly after.
So when people say I am rushing I just smile, shake my head and say, you didnt know my father.
A man who died at forty (29 years ago) and I am still benefiting from his inheritance now.
A man who married a quiet woman of steel. Even his children’s children will benefit from his inheritance.
Baba mi. Eniyan rere.
Tall, dark, and handsome.
A man who is a sanguine through and through. His dance steps nko na helele.
See as I fine in his hands.
Adelekan, omo Gegeola, omo Adeyemo, Oko Sarah Abosede, Baba Wole.
Keep resting on. I love you like kilode and the little fragments of the memories I have of you, I still hold on tightly to.
